Lucy Fennell

I am a multidisciplinary artist based in North Dorset, currently
studying Fine Art at Falmouth University. I work in photography,
video, painting, all over the shop – at present, I am using
unconventional materials to use as a means of painting with, most
notably my tapestries with pomegranate, beetroot and more.
I aim to make viewers question the essence of what they are
looking at; to help viewers conceptualise their own interpretations
of the works rather than relying on the plaque next to them.
My works traverse the concepts explored in Surrealism,
Postmodernism, among other things that pique my interest. In
these works, I strive to destigmatise the unique themes of
symbolism, dreams, the subconscious, and challenging the notions
of universal certainties.
Most recently, I have been exploring the ways in which creativity
and mental illness can be linked – a fairly niche topic that has
garnered much attention in recent years.
